Urban Marketplace 2024: From LA84 to LA28 and Beyond
Join us for a half-day conference on Wednesday, April 24th for Urban Marketplace: From LA84 to LA28 and Beyond at SoLA Impact’s The Beehive in South LA!
This year’s Fireside Chat Keynotes are Renata Simril, President & CEO of the LA84 Foundation, and Richard K. Green Ph.D., Director & Chair of USC Lusk Center for Real Estate who will discuss lessons learned from LA84 and how to use this to have a “successful” 2028 Olympics.
Afterwards, learn more from our plenary panel, “Why We Must Not Fail: How can the Games have a lasting and positive impact on the shrinking the racial wealth gap?” Our panelists include moderator Stephen Cheung, President & CEO of LAEDC; Mayor James T. Butts Jr., City of Inglewood; Lori R. Gay, President & CEO of Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County; Deputy Mayor Lucius Martin, City of Long Beach; Marcel Porras, Deputy Chief Innovative Officer of Los Angeles Metro; and Daniel Rodman, Director of International Events for the City of Los Angeles. Afterwards, join us at the Marketplace where attendees have the opportunity to choose between 20+ unique Roundtables to “make a deal, make a difference!”
Founded by ULI Los Angeles in 2000, Urban Marketplace has become a signature annual event, with a focus on underserved communities. It tackles revitalization, gentrification, and systematic disinvestment in Los Angeles by promoting the best practices of city building.
The event features a dynamic format called the Marketplace featuring “roundtable” discussions that offer direct access to decision-makers. Representatives of the public sector, design and planning community, community advocates, small business owners, neighborhood-focused developers, non-profits, and others all interact with each other so that ideas and connections ignite. Come “make a deal, make a difference” so that the ideas don’t just stop at the drawing board!
