Los Angeles real estate legend and ULI Life Trustee Bowen “Buzz” McCoy has donated a full collection of the coveted one-of-a-kind year end gifts from Sam Zell to ULI Los Angeles. As a recipient of a set of these music boxes, McCoy – former real estate financing director at Morgan Stanley – is part of a select group of industry leaders picked to hear Zell’s prediction for the year ahead.
The unique music boxes are elaborate works of art commissioned annually by Zell, Chairman of Equity Group Investments and the Tribune Company, to represent real estate and business themes as a picture of the industry that year. Since 1994, Sam Zell, self-described “grave dancer,” shares his view of the coming year with 650 of his nidustry friends and associates. Each music box is a unique but shares one common feature – press a button and you are rewarded by a popular tune, with lyrics written by Zell that express his current view of the real estate world.
We hope you can join ULI Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 for an evening reception to showcase a selection of these one-of-a-kind works of art and, more importantly, thank Buzz for his leadership in the real estate industry and the organization. As a life trustee, Buzz is part of a select group of 13 individuals whose service to ULI has been meaningful, distinctive, and extraordinary.
