YOUNG LEADERS GROUP COMMITTEE CHAIR
YLG-LA delivers its mission through the help and support of a number of volunteers organized into sub-committees. These groups often collaborate to deliver events, support broader ULI initiatives, and provide you with industry insights and information.
Newer members are strongly encouraged to be pro-active and approach sub-committee chairs to offer to get involved. Sub-committee participation will enable newer members to build relationships within the group, develop a track record of dependability, and to eventually assume leadership roles within the YLG Steering Committee.
If you are interested in supporting one of these sub-committees, please contact the YLG Co-Chairs:

YOUNG LEADERS GROUP COMMITTEE CHAIR
Programs Committee | The Programs Committee engages and educates YLG members through events about current best practices and market trends in entrepreneurial real estate investment, design and development. These events, to be a mix of panel discussions and site tours, focus on the steps and execution of various industry trades and opportunities, presented by people actively in the industry. Committee members are responsible for securing speakers and venues, and coordinating with the Sponsorship and Communication Committees to make sure events are fun, educational, well-organized and well-attended. |
Communication | The Communication Committee promotes all programming produced by the YLG. It coordinates with the Programs Committee to effectively market events to ULI members and the community, using various marketing methodologies, including social media, graphics, and e-mail newsletters. |
Community Service | The Community Service Committee works to facilitate opportunities for members to contribute and improve the communities we work and live in. This supports the mission of ULI to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide. Our events connect and partner young leaders with local community organizations and important social and environmental issues. Committee members are responsible for our annual toy drive plus creating, designing, and implementing additional events throughout the year and coordinating with other committees to promote. |
Social | The Social Committee plans social gatherings (generally in the form of happy hours) to encourage networking and relationship-building amongst YLG members. These events present opportunities to both recruit new members and engage existing members. The Social Committee works closely with the Membership Committee to make sure attendees are greeted at the door and new members feel welcome. |
Partnership Forum | PARTNERSHIP FORUM The Partnership Forum is an annual signature program of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Los Angeles Young Leaders Group (YLG). It is a mentorship program with mentees from diverse professional backgrounds in real estate while each mentor is a senior level executive in industry who is involved in ULI, either through a ULI Product Council or through the Los Angeles District Council. The committee is responsible for recruiting mentors, reviewing mentee applications, assigning mentorship groups, and ensuring the quality of the program through close monitoring and regular check-ins. |
TAP | The TAP (Technical Assistance Panel) program of the ULI is a one to two day ‘think-tank’ composed of 7 to 8 of ULI’s top leaders in development, policy, architecture, planning, and financing, convened to address thorny land-use challenges around Los Angeles. Sponsors are typically public or non-profit institutions trying to determine the best use and course of development for a set of parcels they control. The TAP Committee sources leads, develops scopes of work with sponsors, and selects the panelists. We are still looking for qualified individuals to join our group – particularly in marketing and someone with graphic design skills. |
