    The spectacular Frank Gehry-designed mixed-use project – The Grand – is reaching another milestone and topping out this month, March 2021.  Developed by Related Companies, The Grand is envisioned to be the transformational centerpiece of the arts and cultural district on Bunker Hill.
     
    Designed to be an accessible destination for people from across the Los Angeles region, the development includes retail, dining, entertainment, hotel, and residential components along with open, landscaped public spaces.  As the region begins to emerge from an unprecedented period, The Grand is widely regarded as a vital catalyst for downtown’s recovery and resurgence.
     
    ULI-LA is pleased to present an esteemed panel consisting of The Grand project leaders who will share with us details and insights on:  Project vision and design, construction progress update, key program elements, project financing structure, downtown LA outlook, and some lessons learned.  We will also virtually tour the project via compelling videos and images.Please join us for a dynamic conversation and inside-look at this extraordinary development.

    Tensho Takemori

    Partner, Gehry Partners, LLP

    Mr. Takemori joined Gehry Partners in 1992 and has been involved in a range of project types over the past 20+ years. He has extensive experience managing and coordinating the development of complex construction projects in Southern California and is highly skilled at coordinating with Jurisdictional Authorities. Mr. Takemori earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design in Architecture from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1988. Subsequently, Mr. Takemori continued his education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he received a Master of Architecture degree in 1992.

    Clare De Briere

    Skanska USA Commercial Development

    Clare De Briere leads the Los Angeles region of Skanska USA Commercial Development, which delivers customer-focused, highly sustainable office, mixed-use and multi-family properties across the United States. A native Angeleno, De Briere has spent her career spearheading countless innovative real estate developments across Los Angeles. Prior to her current role, Clare was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of The Ratkovich Company. Clare is the immediate past chair of the Los Angeles District Council for ULI where she currently serves as Chair of the Governance Committee. She also serves on the Board of ULI’s Americas Executive Committee where she chairs the DEI committee.

    Steven Oh

    Associate, The Related Group

    As Senior Vice President of Development for Related California, Mr. Oh is responsible for leading all aspects of the development process, including acquisition, entitlements, finance, design, construction, and leasing and marketing for numerous developments in California. Since joining Related in 2008, Mr. Oh has managed over $2 billion of multifamily and mixed-use developments through various stages of entitlements and development.  Mr. Oh's notable projects include Ocean Avenue South in Santa Monica, and The Grand, a $1 billion mixed-use development in downtown Los Angeles.

    Tyler Bibbins

    Project Manager, The Related Group

    Tyler Bibbins is a Project Manager with Related Urban Development. Mr. Bibbins is responsible for supporting the team in all aspects of the project including financial analysis, debt sourcing, consultant coordination, entitlements, legal oversight, design, construction, leasing / marketing, operations, and asset management. Prior to joining Related in 2017, Mr. Bibbins was an Associate at Colony Capital where he analyzed and executed acquisitions and loan originations across a variety of real estate sectors throughout the US.

    Rick Vogel

    Chief Development Officer, Related Companies

    Richard Vogel is a global real estate executive with a proven success record in establishing vision, defining strategy, and executing large and complex projects in both developed and emerging markets. Mr. Vogel joined Related in January 2017 to lead the Grand Avenue Project, a 1 million square foot landmark mixed-use project located in downtown Los Angeles. Prior to joining Related, he was President of Silverstein Asia, a subsidiary of Silverstein Properties out of New York City. Mr. Vogel is an active member of ULI where he has chaired various committees.
