Movers & Shakers: Thomas L. Safran – SOLD OUT!
Deeds Not Words: Building Affordable Housing in Los Angeles
Everyone in Southern California talks about the critical need to construct affordable housing. But relatively few developers make the attempt to actually build affordable housing, and even fewer manage to successfully move projects from the drawing board into the field. ULI Los Angeles is pleased to present a Movers & Shakers with a builder who has developed quality affordable housing projects again and again.
Tom Safran is the Founder & Chair of Thomas Safran & Associates, developers and managers of multifamily residential housing and mixed use projects, specializing in affordable housing. Tom’s company owns and manages over 5,000 units of rental housing, as well as commercial retail space, mostly in the greater Los Angeles area. At the moment, Tom is working on multiple priority housing sites owned, and now specifically targeted for affordable development, by the City of Los Angeles.
Tom’s list of community leadership and involvement is too extensive to list here. Suffice to say, his dedication to providing the maximum quality feasible in his projects has given him high standing in the communities in which he has worked. At this ULI Movers and Shakers event, he will share his career path, offer insights on how he has met the pressing need for affordable housing options, and make some suggestions about how to press ahead to meet our region’s current affordability crisis. Following his remarks, Tom will field questions from ULI LA’s guests.
ULI LA would like to thank Greenberg Glusker for hosting this event.

Parking will not be validated. It has come to our attention that Westfield Century City may no longer be a viable option, as we understand that the parking authorities are threatening to ticket/tow individuals who exit the mall. The cheapest closest option is SP PLUS Parking at 10131 Constellation Blvd (between Century Park East and Avenue of the Stars) at $16. Other options can be found at the Best Parking website.
