No Property Fire Sales Anticipated in Next Phase of RDA Dissolution

LOS ANGELES — The next phase of the California redevelopment agency dissolution process is not likely to be any easier than the previous ones, according to panelists at an event Tuesday in downtown Los Angeles. Over the next several months, successor agencies to the city’s and county’s redevelopment agencies will be drafting property management plans and making decisions about which properties to sell and which ones to retain, said speakers at the Urban Land Institute, Los Angeles District’s Urban Marketplace event. Garcetti, Officials, Developers on Transportation Planning, Transit Oriented Development at ULI LA FutureBuild

“It’s like throwing a sponge into the ocean!” said LA mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti, referring to the Sepulveda Pass freeway expansion. He spoke at theUrban Land Institute’s FutureBuild plenary session on the state of transportation and transit oriented development in Southern California. The comment could be just as easily be applied to the proposed 710 tunnel, or other freeway expansion projects in Southern California. Rick Caruso, Bill Bogaard Discuss Sustainability, Economics, and City Planning at ULI Los Angeles
