The San Fernando Valley: The Future of the City of Los Angeles?

A3472-067 Felipe1 paul-koretz

Join ULI Los Angeles to meet Los Angeles City Councilmembers Bob Blumenfield, Felipe Fuentes and Paul Koretz, each of whom represents portions of the San Fernando Valley.

Our geographic host is Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, who represents City Council District 3, including Westfield Topanga.  Councilmember Blumenfield is in his first term on the City Council, but is no newcomer to elected office, having represented the Valley in the State Assembly for several years before joining the Council.  He is also a former Director of Government Affairs for the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.

Councilmember Felipe Fuentes represents District 7, the northeastern part of the Valley, where he grew up.  Councilmember Fuentes is also in his first term on the City Council.  He also came to the Council from the State Assembly, where he served roughly simultaneously with Councilmember Blumenfield.  Before that, he had served as Deputy Mayor for the San Fernando Valley as well.

Councilmember Paul Koretz represents District 5, which stretches from the south portion of the Valley just west of the 405 down through Bel Air, Westwood straight to the Culver City line.  Councilmember Koretz is the veteran of our group, now in his second term on the Council.  A native of the Valley, Councilmember Koretz also once called West Hollywood home, serving for a time as Mayor of that City.  Like our other Councilmember guests, Councilmember Koretz also served three terms in the State Assembly.

These three elected officials will participate in a panel discussion regarding matters of current concern to both the Valley and the City as a whole, followed by an opportunity for audience members to pose their questions to the Councilmembers.

The discussion will be led by moderator and sponsor Brad Rosenheim of Rosenheim & Associates, Inc.  Mr. Rosenheim himself is a former Council Deputy who worked extensively on San Fernando Valley matters on behalf of the Council.  Mr. Rosenheim is involved with virtually every community organization serving the Valley and throughout the City of Los Angeles and surrounding communities.
