image002In the last twenty years, no one has built more residential units in downtown Los Angeles than Geoff Palmer. The southernmost of these is the 913 unit Lorenzo, close to the USC campus.

Remember college? Whether you lived in a dorm or an off-campus apartment, it’s unlikely your college housing could have matched The Lorenzo and its … four pools? Game arcade? 100 seat theatre? Tanning beds? Saunas? Sand volleyball courts? Basketball courts (yes, plural)? If your student housing did have all those things, then we have to ask: did it also have an indoor rock climbing wall?! Are you ready to go back to school yet?

If you’ve been reading about all these open floor plans and creative office spaces, perhaps you had better find out where these youngsters are getting these ideas about enjoying rich, active communal spaces. Geoff Palmer and his team at The Lorenzo would like to show ULI members around their community, now entering its third year serving the USC community.

Come join ULI as we get the full inside look at The Lorenzo from the developer who built and operates this large student community.

The Interview

Following our tour of The Lorenzo, ULI members are invited attend a discussion with the developer himself, Geoff Palmer, in the 100-seat theatre at The Lorenzo. Mr. Palmer will engage in a one on one dialogue with David Abel, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Planning Report, as well as President of ABL Inc. Following their discussion, there will be a brief period for questions and answers. Remember: 100 seats. This event will sell out, so please register as soon as possible.

How to Get to the Case Study:

The Lorenzo is located adjacent to the 23rd Street Station on the Expo Line. Bus service is available to the area as well. Go to http://socaltransport.org/tm_pub_start.php to plan your transit trip.

The Lorenzo is located at 325 West Adams Blvd, just northeast of the USC Campus and adjacent to the 110 Freeway. There is parking available on site at The Lorenzo and will be validated. Entrance to the parking garage is on 23rd Street.
