ULI LA Awarded Urban Innovation Grant

Sixteen grants totaling $320,000 have been awarded to Urban Land Institute (ULI) district and national councils through ULI’s Urban Innovation Grants program. Only ULI district and national councils are eligible to apply for grants, with awards ranging between $10,000 and $25,000. Funding for this year’s recipients is provided by the ULI Foundation’s Annual Fund and the Kresge Foundation. The ULI Annual Fund, which provided $260,000 of total awards, supports local ULI projects that recognize or launch innovative public/private partnerships that advance the responsible use of land in building healthy, thriving communities worldwide. … Read More

No Property Fire Sales Anticipated in Next Phase of RDA Dissolution

LOS ANGELES — The next phase of the California redevelopment agency dissolution process is not likely to be any easier than the previous ones, according to panelists at an event Tuesday in downtown Los Angeles. Over the next several months, successor agencies to the city’s and county’s redevelopment agencies will be drafting property management plans and making decisions about which properties to sell and which ones to retain, said speakers at the Urban Land Institute, Los Angeles District’s Urban Marketplace event. Garcetti, Officials, Developers on Transportation Planning, Transit Oriented Development at ULI LA FutureBuild

“It’s like throwing a sponge into the ocean!” said LA mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti, referring to the Sepulveda Pass freeway expansion. He spoke at theUrban Land Institute’s FutureBuild plenary session on the state of transportation and transit oriented development in Southern California.
